ESSEA

ESSEA

The Earth System Science Education Alliance (ESSEA) was a NASA, NSF and NOAA-supported program implemented by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) to improve the quality of geoscience instruction for pre-service and in-service K-12 teachers. From 2000-2014, ESSEA supported more than 40 educational institutions across the country through a series of online Earth system science courses for teachers. Working in collaborative groups, teachers earn graduate or continuing education credit while solving problems, building models, and designing classroom activities. The course modules are still available.
