Fostering Environmental Awareness: An IGES Case Study

Earthzine recently published an article, written by IGES vice president Theresa Schwerin and staff members Laura Delgado Lopez and Brandi Bernoskie, on using art to foster environmental awareness in young children. The paper uses the annual IGES art contest as a case study and highlights the different lessons learned about how children perceive and depict the world in their artwork, as well as how art projects in science classes can be tied in to state and national science standards.
