Assessment Overview
Assessment in this
course is based on a Portfolio you create to present evidence of learning
and reflection about each sphere and its relationship to Earth as a system.
In your portfolio, you will be able to show that you accomplished the
course requirements for Individual Outcomes and Team Products by posting
your assignments, rating them with the rubric and reflecting on the quality
of your thinking. See Participation for
detailed diagrams of the flow of the activities.
As an individual you
will use the Portfolio to:
- collect evidence of your thinking about how
students learn in Week A
- show your knowledge of the key ideas in Earth
System Science in Week B by listing your questions and answers you find
to them
- design a sphere lesson for your students in
Week C
- integrate the lessons from all four spheres
into an Earth Systems Science unit you can use
- reply to a teammate's submission
As a member of a team,
you will use the Portfolio to:
- develop criteria for what makes an effective
activity in Week A
- address the essential questions in Week B
- provide feedback to each
other on your original lessons in Week C
